Introduction The earth has always been conscious though, initially, on a very slow scale. First we had chemical and slow geologic changes punctuated by reaction to extraterrestrial events. Eventually biological activity emerged and biological systems of interaction developed. Species interacted with each other and with their physical environment. The evolution of humans has accelerated the scale of consciousnes as global communication speeds up. Weather has been a global communication system, winds carrying information around the world. Birds and fish also carry information. Books and sailing ships carried more information faster. But, then came money, the telephone, radio, movies, television and now the internet and strands of glass fibers encircling the globe. A manifold increase in information pathways and transcription. The earth is becoming aware of itself. Is this the birth epoch for the earth?
